I have always loved colour, light and complex patterns of shape and texture which is echoed throughout my paintings.

I work mainly in pure watercolour or oil and enjoy a wide range of subject matter. What I choose to paint is strongly influenced by the effect of light, an interesting composition, and the unusual viewpoint or subject. Although the body of my work is figurative, I like to explore and experiment with different styles and materials as I believe that this is the way to enhance and invigorate my work
My inspiration comes from my love of travelling and painting Plein-Air. In 2016 I made history when I was unanimously elected as the first woman member of the Wapping Group of Artists. I particularly enjoy the challenges and excitement of working outdoors. My contemporary figurative work is produced both in my studio, using location studies, sketches and photographs and on location in the UK and abroad.
I am a Director and was Vice President and Company Secretary of the Society of Women Artists and have exhibited with them for many years. I won the Anthony Lester Art Critic award in 2005 and the Rosemary and Co Award in 2011. Other awards include the Derwent Artist Award at Patchings in 2005 and 2007.
I have exhibited in various galleries and exhibitions including The Royal Society of Marine Artists, The Royal Insitute of Painters in Water Colours and the Society of Graphic Fine Art. I participated for many years in the Surrey Open Studios Event winning the opportunity to exhibit for 3 years running in the Surrey Artist of the Year Exhibition.
